I have always loved to sing! 😉
Many years ago I sang on a semi-professional basis for quite some time.
I was also a finalist (twice) in one of Canada’s prestigious country music competitions at that time: THE BIG COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, in the late 80’s.
I “belted out” 😉 a respectable rendition of some of the musical hits of the time, including:
Desperado, Someday Soon, Stand By Your Man and Catch the Wind…
to name but a few.
What fun it was and what an unexpected pleasure to find that other people (including some who had been in the biz for a long time) thought I had a talent for singing too.
Years later, in 2000 I decided to get back into singing and took more voice lessons, in a more classical vein this time. What a joy it was to rediscover the freedom and pleasure of singing!
Of course I’ve always tried to remember to “lighten up the day” with a song, humming along to a CD, singing while driving etc. The times I really remember the true joy of singing are many and varied. One thing I did not know until recently were the many health benefits associated with singing.
This article is interesting, listing various health benefits directly related to singing. These include: improved memory, lung capacity, reduced stress and lower blood pressure to name but a few. There are many other lists/articles online, describing the numerous physical, emotional and mental health benefits of singing.
Whether you consider yourself a singer or not, it’s a great way to improve each day and your life. And it doesn’t have to cost a dime! Even if you start in the shower and go from there, you might surprise yourself and go on to share your singing voice with the world. You just never know! It’s all good. 🙂
PS: A version of this post was previously shared at one of my now inactive blogs: Take A Happy Break. I thought my Veggie…readers might enjoy this info. too. 😉
Thank you so much for signing up to follow my WP blogs, here at Veggies…
…and also at my poetry blog: My Poetic Path.
I hope you’ll enjoy many posts at all my blogs, as time goes by.
I’ll try to keep things interesting and yummy too. 🙂
And speaking of yummy, I need to get back to posting more recipes, soon.
I’ve been blogging on and off for quite a few years and with a few different blogs.
But when I quit, I always missed it and came back.
Now to ‘fess up a bit…
Up until recently, I hesitated to sign up to follow any blogs, as I mistakenly thought that I would receive an email for each new post from every blog I followed. And I already have waaaay too many emails to read, every week.
I realize now, that’s not the case, unless it’s my preference.
So now, I happily click along the WP Reader list, enjoying new posts from the many blogs I’m following.
And my 8 (yes 8) inboxes aren’t any more crowded than they already were. 😉
And what great new blogs I’ve been finding recently too, in addition to my old favs.
I’m like a kid in a candy store! 😉
Again, thank you for your visits, comments, likes and follows.
All appreciated. 🙂
What do you like most about blogging?
And if you’ve been blogging for quite a while, have you also quit and come back?
PS: I have one more (Blogger) blog, in case you’d like to check it out too, for product/book reviews:
Unfortunately for Mr. Cheddar, it’s been rather “slim pickin’s” this summer, when it comes to bugs to catch and
(reaction will depend on your species) 😉
I’m sure my feline readers can relate to the delicacies of a nice fat bug !!
But he has enjoyed a few culinary “delights” in the past few weeks.
And he keeps our apartment, BUG FREE. I ♥ that! 🙂
Happy Weekend from me and Mr. Cheddar.
He’s still a FEARLESS BUG WARRIOR extraordinaire! 😉
