Veggies…Summer Fun Giveaway! :-)

veggies summer fun giveaway

Well, summer is almost here. and I realized the other day, I haven’t had a giveaway/contest at any of my blogs for a quite a while.

For any of my regular readers who also stop by at my review blog: My Real Life Reviews  you’ll probably remember that I was hosting contests there in particular and on a fairly regular basis, in the past couple of years.

So, I’ve decided to do something about this lack of free goodies, 😉 (I love contests too!!!) so here are the details of:

Veggies…Summer Fun Giveaway!

First of all, the prizes:

lucky penny pouches

Your choice of 2 of the Lucky Penny Pouches shown here.

You can read more about these fun little amulet pouches/charms here.

I make these for orders and gifts too.

Great for bringing more good karma, luck and mojo your way😉

This is much prettier than the photo btw!!!

It’s actually a warm, golden-yellow color.

I’m always on the look-out for new books to read (aren’t you?) so I thought this was a great idea for a contest. And this time of year, I especially love those that have a summery theme. 😉

In the meantime, I’m going to be taking a  short blog break.

The to-do pile here is once again out of control, for online and offline projects. Can you relate?

So I’m going to try to make a serious ‘dent’ in all that and also get out more to enjoy the sunny days we are having right now, here in BC. And before it gets TOO hot to actually enjoy being outside.

Good luck with the contest and enjoy the sunshine, wherever you are too.

I’ll see ya soon! 🙂

A Stroll Down (cookbook) Memory Lane: The Purity Cookbook 1945

cookbooks! And there are some that have a whole lot of special memories attached to them too.

At the top of that list for me is The Purity Cookbook (1945 edition) that my mom and grandma both used on an almost daily basis.

My mom’s copy was in tatters from so much use. It was actually just a bunch of loose pages  in a plastic bag in a kitchen drawer. 😉 We would go through the pages together, picking out recipes and oohing and ahhhing at the tempting photos.

Here’s a couple of yummy photos from the book:

I have wanted to get a copy of this cookbook for a LONG time. I still have the pages (somewhere) from my mom’s kitchen.

But it would be so nice to have an intact copy too. 😉

I found out about a sold copy of this cookbook over at Etsy, a while back. Sandra the terrific Etsy shop owner over at SandMarg has graciously offered to notify me, if she should happen to find another copy of this cookbook, in the future. I sure hope she can. Or that a copy becomes available elsewhere.

This seems to be a vintage cookbook that most people are not willing to part with. I’ve read several blog posts/comments about this particular cookbook elsewhere.

Do you have a favorite family cookbook?  One that brings wonderful memories to mind.

When they say “nothing says lovin’ like something from the oven” that certainly can mean all the love and great memories that a treasured cookbook or recipe can bring to mind too. 🙂

PS: A big thank you to Sandra for also allowing me to share these photos from the cookbook copy she had.

Some Treasures from Etsy. Great gift ideas too!

One of the things about Etsy that I appreciate most is the supportive and generous ways that members interact with each other.

When it comes to being supportive, a really fun way to help out is by creating an Etsy Treasury. For those of you not familiar with all the Etsy lingo, a treasury is a collection of items from various Etsy shops that a curator puts together by way of promotion for them. I LOVE doing these! I enjoy picking out beautiful things to include in my theme-related treasuries and the interacting with other Etsy shop owners. I have been honored to have some of my sale items included in treasuries as well so this is a nice way to give back and say thank you.

If you haven’t visited Etsy already or seen what a Etsy Treasury is all about, take a look at some of these I put together recently:

Why I am Loving Etsy!

I have only had my Etsy shop up and running since mid-August and already it’s been such a positive experience. I am amazed at all the advice, good vibes and promotions I’ve been getting from other Etsy members.

Today Lenore Moon is hosting a one day BNR (that’s Etsy lingo for buy and replace) featuring several new and more established shops. Some wonderful goodies to be found including handmade jewelry, fabric toys and clothing, jams, one of a kind T’s, candles….to name but a few.

Check it out at: Etsy Promotion.

With Christmas just around the corner (ok maybe 2 corners) it’s a great time to start checking out Etsy shops and keeping your favorites in mind for  future gift ideas. And what could be better than a beautiful handmade gift?

And who knows, you might find something you can’t resist for yourself. And we all need to treat ourselves from time to time, don’t we. 😉

Happy browsing….
