Product Review: ShaSha Co. Organic Buckwheat Snack (Cocoa and Vanilla) :-)

ShaSha Organic Cocoa/Vanilla Buckwheat Snacks, 6oz (170g)

I’m always on the look-out for new snack ideas that are tasty, filling, preferably all organic and with a good or better than average ingredient/nutritional list. Happily, I found a new snack item recently that fits all that criteria. 🙂

ShaSha Co. Organic Buckwheat Snack(s) are crunchy, not too sweet, filling and have a nice cocoa kick to them too. And the ingredient list is ALL organic, I ♥ that.

I‘m trying to buy organic EVERYTHING these days, 😉 but when it comes to snack items, an all organic ingredient list can be hard to find.

Here’s the nutritional info:

I love that organic buckwheat groats are the main ingredient.

Buckwheat is a very healthy food, you can read more about it here, and at many other sites online.

These snacks are also gluten free and IMO, reasonably priced at Amazon for less than $6. for a 170G bag. Considering the organic ingredients, not a bad price at all.

I’m going to give some of the other flavors in this snack line a try too. I’ve previously enjoyed the ShaSha Co. Organic Spelt Lemon Snap cookies many times, and they definitely did not disappoint with these snacks either! 😉

Stop by the ShaSha Co. website (they are Canadian!!!) to read about all their other products and many positive initiatives too. 🙂

Happy Snacking, Weekend and Week Ahead!

PS: If you have any fav organic and/or healthy snack suggestions to try (sweet or salty) please DO share!

Another Movie Night Suggestion! :-)

Nuns on the Run

A few months ago, I posted about one of my fav movies (Matinee) and a brand of organic popcorn I like, you can read that post here.

Thought it would be fun to share another comedy fav movie with you today, this one starring a couple of very talented Brits, Robbie Coltrane and Eric Idle.

Nuns on the Run:

is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen and it’s one that I’ve watched many, many times too. It’s that kind of movie. And for me, it’s been just as funny on the re-viewing as it was the first time, even though I already know what’s going to happen next. 😉

Brian (Eric Idle) and Charlie (Robbie Coltrane) are small-time criminals who are fed up with their lives of crime and are now on the run from not only their gangster boss but also the police and the Triads. With no other way out, they duck into a convent, change their suits for nun’s habits and that’s when the real laughs begin. 🙂

I won’t spoil the plot but suffice to say, this one is an oldie but still a real goodie, when it comes to comedy classics.

Oh, one more thing, in the extra features included with the film, they even interviewed some real nuns to see what they thought of this movie. Most of them really enjoyed it, except for a bit of foul language. I thought that was so cool that they took the time to get that kind of feedback. But the movie portrays nuns for the most part as intelligent and street smart too, so what’s not to like, even if you are a nun! 😉

Right now, it’s available at Amazon.com for less than $7. so this is a great time to get a copy.

Let me know if you give this one a try.

Happy Viewing and Week!

Product Review: PDQ Women’s Sport Sandals

PDQ Womens/Ladies Toggle & Touch Fastening Sports Sandals (5 US) (Black/Pink)

If you’re looking for a sport/walking sandal (as I was recently) you might want to check these out. 🙂

My criteria for a walking/sport sandal was:

-lightweight but not cheap material

-easy to take on and off

-good cushioning in the sole

-plenty of air circulation so my feet don’t get hot wearing them for extended periods

-OK to look at

-reasonably priced

Happily, I got all that and more, with this purchase. 😉

I also was pleasantly surprised how reasonable the postage was to have these sent from the UK, less than $ 4. Wow, how cheap is that? And they arrived in less than a month, not like some other overseas purchases I’ve made that took a LONG, LONG time to get to our little city in Interior BC.

Mine are in the RED-GREY color, and again I was pleased. They are exactly as pictured at Amazon.

I’ve checked out VERY similar sandals locally, supposedly on sale for around $70. These were less than $30. so I call this a real bargain.

Hope you find this review helpful and let me know if you give these sport sandals a try too.

Happy Walking and Week! 🙂

Groovy Green Kitchen UPDATES, Now Available :-)

GGK II cover (front )

The_Groovy_Green_Kit_Cover_for_Kindle

The Groovy Green Kitchen I: Weeknight Veggie Slow Cooker

The Groovy Green Kitchen II: Simply, Super, Supper Soups

I have updated the photos in both of my: Groovy Green Kitchen cookbooks (Kindle versions) and free updates are now available from Amazon.

Amazon.com has kindly informed me that they will be sending out notices to customers who purchased one or both of these eBooks previously, re: the update. But in case you don’t hear from them, you can also contact Amazon to get the free updates.

I was having issues with the photos in both of these eBooks, when zoomed in particular. They are now looking much better and I think have added to the overall presentation quite a bit.

I have less than an optimal set-up for kitchen photos at present, but with some photo editing that I did and some help from the talented: Lissa at Postcards from the Rain (thanks again Lissa!), they are now good to go.

I also suggested to Amazon that white borders on the zoomed version of photos (instead of the ugly brown they had previously) would look a lot better. They sent in my suggestion for consideration and woohoo, they have now made that change! 🙂

I am also looking for more reviewers for both of these cookbooks.

If you like to cook and would be interested in giving one or both of these eBooks a “test drive” send me an email at:

veggiecook  @myway  .com (spaces removed), type REVIEWER in subject line

and we can go from there.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Cooking! 🙂

Book Review: Street Magic by William Hammett

Looking for a good read for the weekend/upcoming week?

Check out my new review of:

Street Magic by William Hammett.

An original story that I enjoyed from start to finish!

Happy Reading and Weekend. 🙂

My Poetic Path

street magic cover

Street Magic by William Hammett

From the Amazon product page:

The people of Pace, Indiana, are jolted from their routine small-town lives when a street magician, Lark the Magnificent, begins staging one incredible show after another. There is seemingly nothing this man in an electric-blue suit can’t do, from levitating above the sidewalk to making it snow on a sunny day.

But Joe Bailey, meek bachelor and town archivist, notices that things in Pace aren’t quite right. People are going missing, stores are closing, and someone—or some thing—is living in a row of abandoned homes on River Road.

In this homage to Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes, William Hammett has written a chilling novel in lyrical prose about the evil locked behind the doors of small-town America, an evil that Joe Bailey will have to combat with his own brand of street magic.
