Happy New Year and Farewell

Where has 2015 gone?

snowman cheddie

For me, it seems like it just flew by, faster than any other year that I remember! Can you relate?

I’ve decided to stop blogging here at Veggies…and also at my poetry blog: My Poetic Path.

I will continue to post reviews on a regular basis at:

 My Real Life Reviews

There is just not enough time to get it all done it seems, in spite of usually putting in 17+ hours, most days.

I am always on the go and this coming year I want to focus on the many creative projects I have in the works (or in mind) that I get the most joy and satisfaction from. Blogging as we all know, can take up a lot of time, especially with 3 blogs as I’ve had for many years.

I  will also be setting up a new blog at some time in the future, focused on my books and writing pursuits. But for now, it’s time to take a break from most blogging to recharge, regroup and redirect my time and energy.

I wish all my readers the best of everything in 2016.

It’s going to be a wonderful year, I just know it! 🙂

Happy New Year

All the Best from Me and Mr. Cheddar

Happy Holidays from Me and Mr. Cheddar :-)

Cheddie and I are busy promoting his new kindle book right now.

Will be taking a bit of a break from blogging until the New Year.

We Both Wish You:

A Magical, Memorable Christmas

and

A Furrrrbulous New Year!! 😉

Taaa…daaa…Mr. Cheddar’s Meowsings! :-)

Mr. Cheddar is now a published feline! 😉

Mr. Cheddar’s Meowsings!

Mr. Cheddar and I are very happy to announce the publication of his first ebook:

Mr. Cheddar’s Meowsings!

Kibbles of Wisdom from a Wise and Witty Feline

Here’s the description of what this furrrry new ebook is all about, from the Amazon site:

Mr. Cheddar serves up his own unique and flavorful blend of feline tummy-tickling humor and puuuurfound kibbles of wisdom throughout the pages of:

Mr. Cheddar’s Meowsings! Kibbles of Wisdom from a Wise and Witty Feline

Color photographs of the ruggedly handsome Mr. Cheddar are featured throughout this book, purrrfectly complimenting his wise and witty words.

Catty Topics of Note Include:
  • advice for the lovelorn (applicable for felines and humans)
  • dealing with difficult neighbors (only humans, of course)
  • kibble quality control (never, NEVER let it slide)
  • disciplining humans (they can be taught, with time and patience)
  • litter box humor (snort…)
  • napping etiquette (there is a right way to do everything)
  • grooming suggestions (gilding the furry)
  • aging disgracefully and loving it (heh, if you’ve still got it…)
and munch, munch more…

Mr. Cheddar is currently furrrrriously pawing more litterary masterpieces, with minor assistance from his Meowmie: Geraldine.

He scoffs at the need for any type of human help, but with such big, manly paws, typing can be a challenge at times, for the otherwise incredibly gifted Mr. C.

And for Mr.Cheddar: furrrrbulous, feline words of wisdom and witticisms happily flow like a never-ending bag of premium kibble!
****************
And speaking of Amazon,
Mr. C and I were thrilled to note his new ebook on  three, Top 100 paid lists at Amazon.ca, this morning. We only added it to the Amazon sites, late yesterday.

Available at all Amazon sites.

Happy Reading and Week from:

Product Review: Andalou Sunflower & Citrus Styling Gel

THE BEST HAIR GEL I’VE EVER USED! 😉

Andalou Naturals Sunflower & Citrus Medium Hold Styling Gel - 6.8 oz

Andalou Sunflower & Citrus Styling Gel

I’ve tried a LOT of hair gels over the years and this product is the best I’ve found to date, mainly due to its first/main ingredient being: organic aloe juice, NOT some unpronounceable chemical, as is usually the case with these types of products.

It also “does the job” with thick, unruly hair like mine.

So many styling products I’ve tried didn’t actually do much, especially the more natural options. But this one from Andalou really tames the frizzies and keeps my hair looking smooth in almost all types of weather. NOTHING really works when it’s super humid! 😦

Reasonably priced, at Amazon I noted this product is currently less than $10. for a 6.8 oz tube.

And a little of this product goes a long way! 🙂

If you’ve been looking for a better option for hair gel than the chemically-laden mainstream brands, you might want to give this one a try. I’m glad I did.

From the Amazon product page:

Sunflower & Citrus Styling Gel from Andalou Naturals improves hair vitality from root to tip and allows for controlled styling with extra body, texture and definition.

It works for straight or curly hair, and is color-safe for vibrant hair.

It moisturizes, controls static and shields against humidity, frizz and fly-aways.

Non-GMO, gluten free, no paraben preservatives, sulfates or phthalates.

Vegetarian & cruelty free.

Made in the USA.

Ingredient List:

Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus (Guar) Gum*, Sodium Alginate (Algin), Glycine Soja (Soy) Protein, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Allantoin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower), Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile), and Pyrus Cydonia (Quince) Extracts*, Fruit Stem Cells (Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis Extracts*†, Phenethyl Alcohol, Vegetable Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) and Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Oils*
* Certified Organic
† Fair Trade

Searching For the Elusive…

… BLACK RIBBED TURTLENECK SWEATER! 😉

I have been searching (and searching…) online for this elusive item, this past week.

Why is a simple, basic sweater like this so hard to find?

I couldn’t even find the right style in a different color, to include a photo with this post.

So here are my must-haves for the perfect black “turtle 😉

  1. Fitted, not sloppy looking, with a fitted neck, no cowls.
  2. Preferably a cotton or other natural blend fabric.
  3. Ribbed texture throughout.
  4. Reasonably priced, not over $40.
  5. True black, not mixed colors, marled…
  6. Not too thick but not thin either, medium weight.
  7. Free or reasonable shipping charges.

If you happen to note this kind of pullover sweater online and it is at a site that ships to Canada, please let me know.

I can’t believe I am the only woman searching for a black, ribbed turtleneck right now.

And I can’t believe that I haven’t been able to find what was always considered a winter wardrobe basic, especially here in Canada. 😦

HAPPY SHOPPING AND WEEKEND!

10 Under $20: Holiday Gift Suggestion List 2015 :-)

The
first of
December
brought thoughts
of Christmas magic.
The Day, so soon to arrive.
Our expectations ran high.
Through snow days and blizzards.
Making a list and checking it twice.
Santa’s letter printed and ready to mail.
Christmas baking: heady, wonderful aromas.
Pageants at school, with costumes of many colors.
The tall lush evergreen, centerpiece of the season.
We decorated so carefully; each bough lovingly adorned.
With some old, some new, every one used and none forgotten.
The long days of dark December. Finally, homework complete.
Sitting in the darkened living room; time alone to drift away.
Marvelling at the masterpiece of lights and shining ornaments.
Gazing far beyond to the bliss to follow. Hurry, hurry, hurry!
Christmas eve: midnight mass and carolling.Treats aplenty!
Then the long awaited, special treasures.
The secrets of shining boxes and ribbons.
Finally revealed and always worth the wait.
Off to sleep, to dream of a perfect snowy Christmas Day.
Now content, to still remember these childhood memories.
On
this
November day.

What Is The BEST/EASIEST Way to Add a Button Band to a Cardigan?

If you’re an expert knitter, I’m all ears!!! 😉

Walk in the Park Cardi

I’ve been knitting for a lot of years and at this point, still consider myself to be an advanced beginner. That’s OK with me though, I have no interest in tackling really complicated projects. I like to relax when I knit and unwind. 🙂 I don’t want it to be stressful. 😦Yes, I like a bit of challenge but not for the whole project.

And when it comes to finishing sweaters, I sometimes struggle with what works best for those important finishing techniques. And they really CAN “make or break” a project, can’t they?

I am now getting to the end of knitting my first: Walk in the Park Cardie (click to read more about the pattern) which is pictured above and it is looking good.

But now comes the part I haven’t been looking forward to: adding the button/buttonhole band.

As you can see from the pattern, it is a very narrow band on this one and it has a color change too. It is suggested in the pattern to: sew it on as you knit.

I’m wondering what would be the best way to proceed, to make the neatest finish possible?

I have been looking at YouTube videos and blog posts about this subject, a lot of different ideas out there to consider, re: button/buttonhole bands.

If you have experience with knitting a sweater with a band (especially a narrow one like this sweater has) DO let me know what worked best for you.

Thanks if you can help! 😉

Happy Knitting!

Calling all MYWAY email users!

Hope someone can help with this ??? re: MYWAY email service!

Thanks if you can!!! 😉

My Poetic Path

I noted today that theMYWAY websiteis shutting down, as of the first part of December.

I have a few myway email accounts and it’s not clear if they will still be functional, after their main website shuts down.

Any ideas, anyone??? I couldn’t find any more info. about this online.

What a pain in the a….this is going to be, IF they are shutting down their email service too. 😦
