Hooray for Soup Time!

I’ve been making a variety of favorite soup recipes lately. It’s great to get back to cooking after the long, hot summer.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. I am NOT a hot weather person.

I thought I’d share a collection of some of my favorite soups today.

I’ve included photos and links back to the original posts that include the recipes and readers comments.

Do let me know if you’ve given any or all of these a try.

It’s soup time again….and the cooking is oh so easy! 🙂

  1. I have made three of these already. They are great recipes, and would be perfect for our cold rainy day. Guess I will try the Scotch Broth tonight.

  2. Mmmmm. I have made some of these too. The Black Bean Soup is my favourite. I am a huge fan of anything with beans. Your flavours are so good. You should have your own cooking show.

Like Sandy, I am going to try the Scotch Broth. We are having a bit of a cold snap at the moment, so it is just what I need. Can’t wait!

  3. I’m going to try the curried apple soup…it sounds really yummy. 🙂

  4. That curried apple soup looks delicious.

  5. Hi Sandy, Hope you enjoy the Scotch Broth too. I’m glad you are enjoying my recipes.

Hi Sel, I really work at my flavor/spice blends, it’s one of the things I really enjoy when I’m cooking, trying different combos of herbs, spices, condiments…to come up with something new. I’m adapting a lot of my previous recipes with more variations, more vegan options…love it all!

Hi Ruinwen, I hope you’re enjoying lots of recipes from NJFV. Soups are a big part of the mix because I love them so much.

Hi Sandy, Let me know how you like it!

    Happy Weekend and Cooking, G

PS: On the menu here: Cream of Carrot Soup (from NJFV) and Grandma’s Oatmeal Bread ( a recipe I adapted from one at About.com) from the bread-machine.

  6. Reblogged this on VEGGIES, YARNS & TAILS and commented:

*** I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE SECOND VOLUME IN THE GROOVY GREEN KITCHEN SERIES IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS AND IT’S GOING VERY WELL. THIS ONE WILL BE ALL ABOUT SOUPS: SIMPLY, SUPER, SUPPER SOUPS, TO BE EXACT! ;<) THOUGHT I'D ALSO SHARE SOME OF MY FAV SOUPS FROM THE VEGGIE ARCHIVES IN THIS ENCORE POST. HOPE YOU ENJOY ONE OR MORE OF THESE AND DO LET ME KNOW IF YOU ENJOY THEM. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO CANADIAN READERS TOO. HAPPY COOKING AND WEEKEND! ***

  7. By the looks of the photos they all look delicious, Geraldine. I will click on them all and try them out. 🙂 I just love soups and chowders and could eat them all year around. I like to try different kinds, and love Chili, New England Clam Chowder and Split pea and ham soups, cream of potato, etc., but also have another favorite two that are ‘corn chowders’.

  8. I like when fall arrives and we start making soup again. Your Tuscany Minestrone looks particularly good.

  9. I fancy having a go at the black bean soup…. I like anything tangy. I’m a bit lazy about cooking though, having to keep running to hospitals with my Joe doesn’t give me much time.

  10. I love making soup too! What a tasty selection you have here, the black bean soup is calling me!!

  11. Love soup! I use a crock pot so I can ignore it all day and enjoy it in the evening. I know–soups don’t like being ignored, but I do get to smell that glorious scent.

  12. Hi Joyce, Let me know how you enjoy the ones you do try! 🙂

Hi Gabriella, Thanks for your kind words. That is a photo from my first cookbook: Not Just for Vegetarians and it’s still my fav food photo of all time. I can’t take credit for actually taking that one but I did choose the dishes and recipes featured in this shot. 😉

Hi Val, That is tangy and oh so satisfying fav of mine. When I’m really, really hungry and have the ingredients for this one on hand, it’s what I usually will make. 😉 Hope you give it a try too.

Hi Jayne, Go for it Jayne! And welcome to Veggies…thanks so much for stopping by.

Hi Jacqui, My new cookbook: The Groovy Green Kitchen Volume 1 (see sidebar) has several crockpot soup recipes.

I LOVE my slow cooker too, it’s such a great kitchen helper, I agree. 🙂

    Happy Cooking, G
